Finding a Jackson Hole Newborn Photographer

There’s nothing quite like those first few weeks with a new baby. Those tiny fingers wrapped around yours, the softest little sighs, and the way time suddenly feels both slower and impossibly fast. As a Jackson Hole newborn photographer, I’m constantly reminded how fleeting and beautiful this season is. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, these early days are worth preserving in a way that feels true to you and your family.

Hi! I’m Roslyn, a Jackson Hole Newborn and Family Photographer who believes the quiet, in-between moments with your little one are just as magical as the big milestones. I specialize in in-home newborn photo sessions that feel relaxed, cozy, and completely centered around your family’s unique rhythm. No stiff posing, no pressure, just gentle guidance and a whole lot of patience (because babies run the show, and that’s exactly how it should be). Whether your baby is a few days or a few months old, I’m here to help you preserve this incredibly tender chapter with images that feel natural and timeless. Reach out to check my availability.

Why In-Home Newborn Sessions Just Make Sense

One of the most common things I hear from new parents is, “I love the idea of newborn photos, but I just can’t imagine packing everyone up and leaving the house right now.” And I get it, those early days are a whirlwind of feedings, naps, and soaking in every little expression your baby makes. That’s exactly why I offer in-home newborn sessions as a Jackson Hole Newborn Photographer. These sessions are designed to be calm, pressure-free, and totally tailored to your pace.

Your home is where your story is unfolding. It’s where you rocked your baby to sleep at 3 a.m., where siblings tiptoe in for a peek at the newest family member, and where your pup (yes, they can be part of the photos too!) is learning their new role. There’s something incredibly special about capturing these moments in your own space, no extra setup needed.

Lighting? I’ll find the best soft window light and guide you into it. Clutter? Don’t stress! I’m not here to judge your laundry pile (honestly, I expect it). What I am here for is to help you feel at ease, so we can focus on what really matters: that beautiful connection between you and your baby.

When to Schedule Your Newborn Photo Session (And Why Age Isn’t Everything)

One of the best parts of working with a Jackson Hole Newborn Photographer who offers in-home sessions? Flexibility. There’s no strict rule about how “new” your newborn needs to be. While many families invite me over during the first couple of weeks, beautiful photos can happen anytime in those early months. Here’s what to consider:

  • 1–2 weeks old
This is a lovely time if you’re hoping to capture that fresh, sleepy newborn look. Babies at this age tend to snooze through much of the session, which can make for those curled-up, snuggly shots.

  • 3–6 weeks old
Babies start to be more alert, which means we might catch some eye contact or those early expressions (hello, dreamy little half-smiles). Sessions are still cozy and calm, just with a bit more personality showing through.

  • 2–3 months old
Don’t worry if the early weeks flew by. This age is fantastic for capturing connection. Your baby will likely be more awake and expressive and will start to interact with you and the camera. These sessions often include snuggles, tummy time, and the sweetest giggles.

  • Hospital sessions (a.k.a. “Fresh 48” Photos)
If you’d like me to meet you at the local hospital in Jackson Hole, I also offer Fresh 48 photos! These are raw, real, and incredibly emotional, perfect for remembering those first hours together.

No matter what stage you’re in, my goal as your Jackson Hole Newborn Photographer is to help you feel confident and relaxed, so you can enjoy being in the moment.

What to Expect From Your Jackson Hole Newborn Photographer

If this is your first time working with a Jackson Hole newborn photographer, you might be wondering what the session will actually feel like. The short answer? It’s calm, cozy, and entirely baby-led. There’s no rush, no pressure, and definitely no need for perfection.

I always plan plenty of time for newborn sessions, because we go at your baby’s pace. If they need to eat, be changed, or just have a little snuggle break, we take it. Some of the most beautiful moments happen in those pauses. I’ll guide you gently into natural light and offer suggestions to help you feel confident in front of the camera, but most of the session is about capturing your connection, the little glances, the soft snuggles, the way you instinctively hold your baby close.

Your home doesn’t have to look like a magazine spread. In fact, I encourage you not to stress over tidying up. I’ll help find the most beautiful spots with good natural light, often near a big window, on the bed, or in the nursery, and we’ll keep things simple and real.

If you have older siblings or pets, they’re more than welcome to be part of the session, too. Some of my favourite images are the unscripted ones: a toddler tiptoeing over to kiss the baby’s forehead, or a pup curled up at your feet while you rock in the nursery chair. These moments are part of your family’s story, and they’re worth remembering.

More than anything, I want you to feel relaxed. You’ve done so much to bring this little one into the world, now it’s your time to simply soak it all in while I preserve these memories with care and intention.

How to Prepare for Your Newborn Session

One of the best parts of working with a Jackson Hole newborn photographer who comes to your home? There’s very little you need to do to get ready. These sessions are designed to feel natural and relaxed, but if you're wondering how to set the scene, here are a few simple tips to help you feel more confident and prepared:

  • Keep baby comfy: Dress your little one in a soft onesie or swaddle to start, something simple that doesn’t distract from their tiny features. I’ll often photograph a few outfit changes if we need to, but don’t worry about anything too fancy.

  • Feed right before I arrive: A full belly usually means a happy, sleepy baby. Feeding just before our session helps ease into a calm rhythm (but if baby’s hungry again mid-session, we pause and carry on, no stress!).

  • Tidy up just a little: You don’t need to deep clean, promise! Just tidy up any small spaces where we’ll be shooting (like your bed, the nursery, or near a big window). A clean nightstand or a fluffed blanket goes a long way.

  • Choose soft, neutral outfits for yourself: Earth tones, creams, greys, and pastels photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your connection. Think cozy knits, flowy fabrics, or your favorite well-loved tee, whatever makes you feel most like you.

  • Don’t worry about the clock: These sessions are never rushed. We can move slowly, follow your baby’s lead, and create a peaceful environment for everyone.

At the heart of it, all you really need to do is show up as you are. I’ll take care of the rest.
